Physical fitness has never been more popular and seems to be a growing trend in recent years. Lifetime Sparwood resident Katie Jackson is there to answer the call of those individuals who wish to improve their health and well being with the knowledge and expertise of a trained professional.

Jackson is the owner of Next Level Fitness and says she has a passion for all things fitness.

Jackson has been operating Next Level Fitness since January of 2016 and she has kept busy with the business as well as with her motherly duties while raising two young boys. She is already a Certified Personal Trainer with the National Federation of Personal Trainers and has recently upgraded her certification to Master Trainer. This gives her the know how to train in specialty courses in Fitness Nutrition, Endurance Training and Resistance Training.

She offers a variety of training and exercise options on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. These include private one-on-one personal training with customized workouts, ongoing nutrition advice, periodic reviews of measurements, weight and goals and body fat composition (if desired). She also offers personal training for couples and pairs which offers the same benefits as the one-on-one training. So if you and a friend need something to pass the time and keep your self in peak physical condition throughout the winter months, you can team up, motivate each other and get it done at a discounted rate. She has 5 openings per day with two morning sessions and 3 in the afternoon.

"There are a lot of people who maybe had some fun over the summer and have not been taking the best care of themselves," Jackson said with a laugh. "It's a good time of year for everyone to get back into their routine and get in shape."

Jackson uses her newly renovated home studio as a base of operations. This is a 270 sq ft space that is equipped with free weights, medicine balls, aerobic steps, stability balls equalizer bars, a BOSU ball, a TRX suspension trainer and a treadmill.

On top of her regular hours with her studio, Jackson also hosts "Synergy". Synergy is a group class and full body strength training for balance and coordination. The class occurs at the Sparwood Rec Centre on Monday evenings from 6:15-7:15 p.m..

She also somehow finds the energy to teach a high intensity interval training class known as Tabata. This is also held at the Rec. Centre on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 5:30-6:00 p.m.

Jackson commented on the positive change that occurred for her personally since she started the business and suggests that being physically active may improve others lives as well.

"I wasn't entirely happy with what I was doing so I decided to take the plunge, try something different and open Next Level Fitness," she said, "since then I have not been happier, I love it."
